A consolidated service center (CSC) is not the same as a hospital storeroom. The CSC is a highly engineered distribution center that can achieve exceptionally high service levels and provides a lower cost-to-serve than a storeroom. One of the first key decisions a health system must make is the notion that a CSC should not be operated by its legacy materials management information system (e.g., Lawson/Infor, Peoplesoft, Workday Meditech).

To manage and run your CSC operations in the most optimal way, four distinct operational systems are required:

  1. A distribution management system (DMS) to manage the CSCs order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes.
  2. A warehouse management system (WMS) to manage labor and products within the four walls of the CSC.
  3. A delivery management system to track and manage the physical flow and delivery of orders to end users.
  4. A demand planning and forecasting system that uses sophisticated and self-learning algorithms to manage inventory requirements. Most health systems, even the more advanced ones, do not do this. Yet, this is how CSCs can consistently maintain high (99% or higher) fill rates to its customers.

RiseNow has a history of highly successful system implementation and integration work. This track record, combined with our experience in designing, managing and implementing CSCs, makes us uniquely qualified to guide you through the critical business considerations and use cases necessary to set up these technologies to operate best-in-class distribution operations.
